Sticking Together as Community Center Program Closes
Tonight was bittersweet as Darbo-Worthington neighbors celebrated community over plates of yummy salad and spaghetti (thank you, Mentoring Positives, Inc.!), just one week before The Salvation Army of Dane County's Darbo Dr. Community Center program will end due to financial challenges. The Center has been an invaluable asset to the neighborhood:
๐ providing after-school programs that keep kids engaged, learning, and surrounded by mentors who care, steering them toward positive influences
๐งค providing essential food, clothing, and emergency assistance for families who need extra support
๐ช๐ฝ working closely with schools, local orgs, and the Madison Police Department to make sure families have a strong network of support
๐ hosting community gatherings where neighbors can connect and access valuable resources
Despite these challenges, they are committed to continuing to provide housing, shelter, and supportive programs, and MPD's East district and Community Policing Advisory Board are equally committed to being an active, engaged part of this beautiful community.
