Beacon Day Center Tour and Meeting
On November 14 Madison Police Department's Central District Community Policing Advisory Board and Captain Michael Hanson met at the Beacon daytime resource center for those experiencing homelessness in Madison and Dane County.
Beacon Program Director Nici Hawkins (one of Central's Advisors) gave a tour and discussed the trends they are seeing as well as the challenges and how they are using community relationships, including with the police, to problem solve.
Captain Hanson discussed how Nici and her staff have an excellent, trusted relationship with the patrol officers who work the dayshift and proactively work to build relationships with Beacon clients.
